(or Spicy Christmas Bread)
Preparation : 30 minutes
Cooking time : 50 minutes
Ingredients (for 6 to 8 people):
- 250g of honey
- 15cl of milk
- 50g of butter
- 250g of flour
- 1 spoon of baking powder
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon of ginger powder
- 1 spoon of cloves
For the icing:
- 2 egg white
- 300g of icing sugar
- 6 drops of lemon
Preparation:
In a pan, heat up the honey, milk and butter. In a bowl, add the flour, spices and vanilla. Pour the content of the pan in to the bowl mixing it all up until you get a smooth paste, then incorporate the egg yolks.
Grease a cake tin, pour in the mixture and put in the oven for 50 minutes (150°C)
For the icing:
Whisk the egg white until they are firm, add the icing sugar and whisk until you get a thick and creamy mix. Add the lemon juice.
Once the spicy bread is cooked and cooled down, spread the icing on it and decorate.
Sit back with a glass of mulled wine and enjoy at your leisure!
