Face to Face Fundraising

How you got into Face to Face Fundraising

I got into face to face while living in Sydney. I was looking for a career change and saw an advert in the newspaper and thought-wow! I’ve always wanted to be involved in charities/ fundraising but never got around to doing anything about it and the advert was really inspiring too.

Why you got into it

I have a passion for charities and a passion for wanting to help people so I saw f2f as the ideal opportunity to combine the two. Learning the importance of face to face got me really excited also, it inspired me even more to get involved. The role as a fundraiser is incredibly important and people often underestimate that.

Generally what it involves

Standing on the streets everyday talking to some of the most amazing people you’ll ever meet! Well, having the gift of the gab and a lot of confidence is essential to succeed at the job. Being resilient is also important- you need to detach yourself from the rejection and focus on the people who will stop and sign up. Oh and you need to know how to have fun!

Career Opportunities and job satisfaction

Personally for me it’s about raising money for the charity. Inspiring donors to give money on a regular basis with the knowledge of how their money will help others is truly satisfying! Generally making a positive difference to everyone’s day always moves me too. Street fundraising can lead to a wonderful career opportunity in the charity sector  from street fundraising to donor support to recruitment, and you meet lots of new friends along the way too.
