New name for Pattaya Orphanage Trust
19.01.2009

The Pattaya Orphanage Trust has changed its name to the Thai Children?s Trust.

Chief executive Andrew Scadding said the new name was more representative of the charity?s work, because it funds five different children?s centres throughout Thailand.

?The previous name gave the impression that we ran the Pattaya Orphanage, which we don?t ? we have only ever been a financial supporter,? he said.

The change would also bury any lingering negative connotations with the name Pattaya, which had a reputation for a long time of being one of Thailand?s seedier resorts.

The rebrand cost £6,000, all devoted to solicitors? fees. The charity benefited from pro bono advice from branding consultant Ben Hayman, who was instrumental in renaming ITDG as Practical Action.

Its logo and website (pictured) have retained the same look and feel as before.
