    Olympic Fever

I spent the weekend glued to the tv watching team GB pull in more medals, what a brilliant result. The athletes are all at the top of their game, but the power of being on your home turf and having the crowd behind you makes a huge difference.

As one of the commentators was saying during the 100 metres final, the big battles are being fought with the mind. It’s not the Olympics, but maintaining motivation as a fundraiser is hard unless you feel like you have a goal, are connected to the cause and have someone supportive behind you. It’s often a harder battle in larger charities. Fundraisers we meet regularly say that the very reason they joined the charity sector, to feel part of something incredible, to be able to put the work in and make a difference (yes it’s a cliché but true) has been lost.

But there is good news for fundraisers out there who might feel disillusioned. Many of our clients recognise the brain drain going on in the fundraising sector and work hard to ensure their fundraisers are close to the cause and recognised for the success they achieve. So step forward to the podium there are plenty of charities that will appreciate your skills, not necessarily with a medal, but certainly recognition and the chance to shine.
