Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international charity who provide essential medical aid where it is needed most.
In the UK, almost all of MSF’s income comes from private individual donors, allowing them to stay independent, neutral and impartial. Their donors support the work MSF does in over 60 countries around the world, with over 37,000 staff on the frontline of emergency medical aid.
Flow Caritas have partnered with MSF to recruit fundraisers to work at a number of private sites and special events – this isn’t just your regular street fundraising job! As well as raising awareness and inspiring new donors, you’ll be taking part in interactive exhibits and even facilitating virtual reality experiences.
As an MSF fundraiser, you will regularly visit the head office for briefings led by the doctors, nurses and engineers who have worked in the field, as well as receiving certificates and medals for your fundraising milestones. You may also have the opportunity to participate in training exercises; some of our staff recently went to Brussels to act as victims (fake blood and all) in ‘mass casualty’ training where MSF medical teams learned how to respond to an explosion.
“It was really heartening to see how hard you guys work for us, not just to be able to work in the field and provide amazing medical, logistical and holistic care, but also to help us and prospective MSFers to fulfill an ambition or dream, which for many has been life long. Because we do not go away on fairy dust and hospitals are not built on prayers alone.” – Siama Latif, MSF Doctor.
